Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter has celebrated its 10-year anniversary.
In 2015, the charity was established to address the need of women and children experiencing homelessness and domestic violence. The same vision and mission continue as HKWS enter its tenth year: every woman and child deserve shelter, safety, and opportunity.
Last year, HKWS supported 78 women in starting a new life, and provided 1,627 nights of short-term of emergency accommodation nights. From this, 90% of women were able to successfully exit and secure long-term housing.
HKWS is made possible by the support of local council, government, and the community. Through donating and fundraising, the charity can ensure local women and their children are safe.
