Local high school students across the North Shore have been awarded for their exceptional community service by the New South Wales Governor, Margaret Beazley AC QC.

The Youth Community Service Awards were conducted by the Order of Australia Association NSW Branch, to recognise the service and engagement of these young Australians within their local communities. Governor Beazley presented twenty-six students with a trophy and certificate of commendation on Thursday 7th of September.

The Awards were presented to Avery Benbow from Loreto College Normanhurst, Dylan Farr from Knox Grammar at Wahroonga, and Edward Schamschula from Masada College in St Ives.

Students were nominated by their respective school principals, who believed their students were community role models and participated in local initiatives. These initiatives ranged from education, health, welfare for the disadvantaged and underprivileged, or community development.

‘Avery, Dylan, and Edward are three of twenty-six high school students recognised today to have volunteered their time to a wide range of organisations and for many very worthy causes while busily preparing for their Higher School Certificate’ says Order of Australia Association NSW Branch Chairman, Jim Mein AM. ‘[They] have contributed beyond the norm and their actions have inspired their fellow students. They are beacons of inspiration for others to follow.’

Other students accoladed with the Youth Community Service Awards included Amber Hogan from the Northern Beaches Mackellar Campus, Isabelle Jaffrey from Loreto Kirribilli, Laila Jenkins from the Freshwater Senior Campus, Archibald Kingham from Marist College, Ella Maryska from the Northern Beaches Manly Campus, and Isabelle Stapf-Giannakis from the Northern Beaches Manly Campus.

The Post congratulates these students on their achievements.
