Relay for Life

A Community That Becomes Family

Group of women holding hands together.

When I first joined Hornsby Relay for Life, I never imagined how deeply it would shape my life.

What began as a heartfelt way to honour those touched by cancer quickly grew into something far more powerful—a community of strength, purpose, and belonging.

Over time, Relay became my family. This extraordinary group has supported me through some of my hardest moments. I’ve been honoured to share my story on stage, received the Gemma Crawley Memorial Award, and now proudly serve as a committee member. The laughter, the shared tears, and the candlelight ceremonies remind us we’re never alone. Relay has carried me—and it can carry you too.

2025 marks our 21st Relay in the Hornsby (NSLHD) community. This year’s event will be held from Saturday 1st to Sunday 2nd November at Rofe Park, Hornsby Heights. Relay is a fun and moving experience that raises vital funds for Cancer Council’s research, prevention, and support services. It’s a chance for us to recognise and celebrate local cancer survivors, those currently going through cancer, and their carers. It’s also a time to honour loved ones we’ve lost—and to raise funds to help save more lives.

Before Relay, we’d love you to join us in July for a fun-filled night of trivia, complete with games and prizes!
