World Cholangiocarcinoma Day was on the 20th of February.
A concerning reality for Karen is not just the lives lost to cancer, but the lives of cancer patients lost to suicide as a result of inadequate wellbeing and mental health care.
‘Cancer may end after treatment for some, but its impact lingers far beyond. With 1 in 2 people predicted to have cancer before they are 85, it is time for change, and time for real lasting support,’ says Karen.
Karen is on the cancer survivorship steering committee at the Royal North Shore Hospital. Together with CanSupport Manager Caelum Davis, the two have been able to launch a pilot program.
