A Word from our Publisher – November 2021

WELCOME to all our readers, November looks to be a busy month with Melbourne Cup, Rememberance Day and the return of the much anticipated sports.

Council elections are fast approaching and it’s so exciting to see so many new candidates coming forward for this important community focussed role.

Minister for Local Government, Shelley Hancock, has urged women keen to make a difference in their community to come forward –  and have they ever!

We’ve received a lot of concerned phone calls from the public regarding the two factions of Ku-ring-gai Council. All I can say is… make sure you go and vote!

On that note I’d like to welcome Steve Panozzo our Cartoonist to this edition with his witty illustration about current events in Ku-ring-gai Council.

There will also be a new Mayor of Willoughby City Council following the Council elections as Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney has announced her intention stand for Liberal Party preselection in the forthcoming State by-election for Willoughby.

I wish Gail the best of luck, she’s certainly held in high regard by many.

If you are interested in knowing more about council candidates then don’t miss the ‘Meet the Candidates’ free events on 15 and 16 November, full details in the Council Election special pages.

Finally, best of luck to all the punters on Melbourne Cup Day… especially Patrick!
