Mad Toppings Hornsby welcome official open post Covid lockdown

Mad Toppings celebrated its official opening on 30 November, with Hornsby Mayor Philip Ruddock present to formally open the pizzeria.

Located on Burdett Street (opposite Hornsby Library car park), the new Hornsby restaurant is one of eight Mad Topping stores across Sydney. Co-founded by Vipin Punia in 2017, the pizza chain offers an international menu, taking inspiration from Mexican, Greek, Afghani, American and Indian cuisine.

“There’s a lot of different flavours to accommodate everybody,” said Punia. “We’re getting a really great response from locals, neighbours, everyone.”

Mad Toppings might be a newcomer on Hornsby’s restaurant scene, but it has already established a name for itself. The business placed as a finalist in the 2021 Local Business Awards.

“This is going to be a very significant part of Hornsby,” said Mayor Philip Ruddock. In his address, Ruddock congratulated Bhaji and Aurora (the owners) on the successful launch of his franchise and discussed the ideal location of the restaurant.

“This area will be a key area for Hornsby in its future, so you are well placed over time to benefit from [the future] Hornsby CBD,” he said.

Hornsby Councillor Janelle McIntosh was also present along with well-wishers and some neighbouring business owners.
