Councils Unite to Protect Hawkesbury-Nepean River

Six councils have established the Hawkesbury Nepean River System Coastal Management Program (HNRS CMP).

Hornsby Shire Council, Ku-ring-gai Council, Northern Beaches Council, The Hills Shire Council, Hawkesbury Council, and Central Coast Council, along with the NSW State Government, have developed a 10-year plan for coordinated management of the waterway health, hazard resilience, and protection of social and cultural values.

‘The Hawkesbury River plays a vital role in the lives of our community, supporting recreation, livelihoods and cultural significance, while also being a critical nature habitat,’ says Hornsby Shire Council General Manager, Steven Head. ‘We encourage everyone to share their thoughts and help shape the future of our estuaries, lagoons and beaches to ensure their sustainability for future generations.’

Drop-in sessions are taking place for the public to learn and comment on the project.
