SUMMARY:Music By Moonlight
DESCRIPTION:Music by Moonlight was founded a decade ago by Normanhurst West Public School’s Musical Director\, Mr Dave Odams. This event is an annual highlight for all schools involved and unites local primary school bands\, who perform both individually and then together as one spectacular supergroup of around 150 talented young musicians. The event creates a powerful sense of community and for most of these students\, this will be the largest band they have ever played in. \nThis year’s concert will showcase the Concert Band and String Ensemble from Normanhurst West Public School\, alongside bands from Turramurra\, Thornleigh West\, Warrawee\, Hornsby Heights\, and Pennant Hills. The students have devoted countless hours rehearsing to deliver an exceptional performance. \nCommunity members are warmly invited to attend and support our local school band programs\, which require tremendous dedication and effort from the students involved\, as well as the Parents and Citizens Associations that run them. \nThis year is the 10th anniversary of this fantastic music event and we are expecting 7 bands from six local schools to attend and showcase their talents. Bands present will be from the following Public Schools: \n\nNormanhurst West;\nThornleigh West;\nPennant Hills;\nHornsby Heights;\nWarrawee\, and\nTurramurra\n\nThere will also be food stalls and Photo Booth on site during the event.

SUMMARY:Dementia Action Week
DESCRIPTION:Dementia doesn’t just impact the person living with the condition and their immediate carers; it also impacts their friends\, family and wider social network. \nPeople living with dementia tell us that friends and family often drop away\, not knowing how to interact with them once they have a diagnosis. \nThis leads to social isolation and loneliness and can further drive stigma and discrimination. With an estimated 433\,300 Australians living with dementia and 1.7 million people involved in their care\, chances are you know someone who is impacted by dementia. \nThis Dementia Action Week we challenge everyone in the community to reach out and reconnect to someone impacted by dementia because nobody can do it alone.
