Rejimon Punchayil, founder of Hornsby-based assistive technology provider Karis Life, was presented with a Community Impact Award by NSW Premier Chris Minns at Sydmal’s 50th anniversary celebration in Sydney.
Presented before approximately 1,200 members, MP Dr. Hugh McDermott, Member for Prospect, MP Charishma Kaliyanda, Member for Liverpool, community leaders and invited guests, the award recognised Rejimon’s contribution to the community and his commitment to improving the lives of older Australians and people living with disability.

Rejimon is a life member of Sydmal and has maintained a close association with the organisation and its community over many years. He has also been involved with Thanal, Sydmal’s seniors’ group, and believes that the way a community supports its older and more vulnerable members is an important measure of its strength and maturity.
Through Karis Life, Rejimon and his team help older Australians, veterans and people living with disability live with greater independence, dignity and mobility. The business provides assistive technology solutions ranging from everyday walking and daily-living aids to specialised beds, wheelchairs, mobility scooters and other complex equipment.
Karis Life works with individuals and families, occupational therapists, NDIS participants, aged-care providers, rehabilitation professionals and community organisations across Sydney and beyond.
Rejimon said receiving the award during Sydmal’s historic golden-jubilee celebration made the recognition particularly meaningful.
