Thanking Dr Helen Mackie – retiring after 30 Years Service at Mt Wilga

Mt Wilga Private Rehabilitation Hospital would like to thank Dr Helen Mackie for her 30 years’ service. 

Dr Mackie retired from her work as a Rehabilitation Specialist at Mt Wilga Private Hospital on 30th November 2021. 

Her contribution to the Lymphoedema Clinic at Mt Wilga is recognised in the renaming of the centre in her honour as the “Dr Helen Mackie Lymphoedema Clinic”.

In 1992, Dr Mackie worked with the physiotherapy team to develop the Lymphoedema Clinic at Mt Wilga Private Hospital. She has held many appointments within the lymphoedema community which includes past President and current Medical Adviser to the Australasian Lymphology Association, a part of steering committees and the Lymphoedema Action Alliance. 

Her expertise in this field has led to her becoming a university clinical lecturer at Macquarie University, the author of many research publications and an examiner for the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine. 

She is considered an expert in the field in subspecialities of musculo-skeletal disorders, back pain, MS, late effects of polio and her passion for lymphoedema is truly unprecedented.
