Congratulations to the elected Willoughby City Councillors

WITH former Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney not standing for re-election this time, there were three contenders for the top job. Tanya Taylor won the position as Mayor with 17, 207 (53.97% of votes) between herself and Angelo Rosoz, current Deputy Mayor.  Angelo Rosoz held a strong position throughout and it was very close with him in second position on 35.1% of votes.

Craig Campbell was last with 25.7% of votes. It was certainly interesting to have three candidates for Mayor and offered some variety for constituents.
Of particular note newcomer Georgie Roussac did very well in her Ward of Narmeburn, with 489 votes and this was evident early on.

In the Sailors Bay Ward Hugh Eriksson was confidently returned as a Councillor with newcomers Roy McCullagh and John Moratelli.

In the West Ward Jam Xia did very well also, receiving a 303 votes and taking his first term as a Councillor. He is joined by re elected Councillors Brendon Zhu and Craig Campbell.

Congratulations to all, we wish you a successful term ahead.

The resignation of Gladys Berejiklian in the seat of Willoughby will force a by-election in 2022 with the date yet to be set.
Former Mayor since 2014, Gail Giles-Gidney stated she would enter the pre selection stating she had made the decision after a “great deal of consideration”. “I’ve absolutely loved my position as mayor and serving on council – it’s a very special community we have in Willoughby,” she said.
Kellie Sloan will also stand for pre selection, Sloan is a former television presenter.
