Publisher’s Post Edition 56 – June 2024

June marks the halfway point of the year. For some, it’s a time to focus on winter woollies and staying motivated throughout the colder months. For others, it’s when we start thinking about annual tax returns and examining what the recent Federal Budget holds for us.

I’m hearing widespread disappointment over the recently released Albanese Federal Budget, which many view as a significant missed opportunity. Kylea Tink aptly describes her views on the budget on page 8 with ‘sugar hits’, to me this highlights the concern that the initial boost will be followed by an inevitable low and sadly a status quo.

In times like these, with the cost of living through the roof, I’m convinced that our country can achieve better governance and I’m looking forward to the Federal election.

June also brings ‘Comedy for a Cause’ hosted by The Village Chef and the Vinnies Sleep Out which aims to break the cycle of homelessness. You can read about these initiatives in our community pages.

I hope you all have a wonderful month ahead.
