Behind every meal we deliver are more people than most would ever see.
There is the kitchen team preparing it, the service team making sure it reaches the right person, and the delivery volunteer arriving at the door — often with a familiar hello and a few minutes for a chat.
And then there are all the people around us: corporate volunteers, provider partners, local businesses, councils, community organisations, funders and advocates. Together, they form the village around The Village Chef.

Our core purpose remains clear: to provide nutritious, chef-prepared meals and help older people remain independent, connected and well in their own homes and communities.
As we protect and strengthen that core, we also need to keep looking forward — finding smarter ways to work, being open to new ideas and exploring what becomes possible when we work with others.
We are fortunate to see this in many ways.
Community Bank Lindfield has supported our Christmas in July community lunch through a staff grant, funded our Nutrition Standards Enhancement Project and supported the purchase of a new packing machine. From bringing people together, to strengthening nutrition, to helping our kitchen work more efficiently, their support reaches across different parts of what we do.
Our longstanding corporate partner Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance shows another side of partnership. For years, their team has turned up for our Turramurra community lunches — setting up, serving meals, chatting with our guests and staying to pack down. Over time, faces become familiar and volunteers begin to feel less like visitors and more like part of the community.
Our provider partners, including Dovida and Right at Home, generously share their expertise, support our events and open their spaces to bring people together. Working with older people and families themselves, they bring valuable insights and a shared commitment to the communities we collectively serve.
Our local councils bring local knowledge, connections and opportunities. Sometimes it starts with something as simple as an introduction, a conversation or an invitation to think differently about what might be possible.
Our local business community is also an important part of our village. Through our Chambers of Commerce and BNI Legends Chatswood, we have connected with people from professions well beyond our own sector who have willingly shared their skills, networks and ideas.

Our local publications and community advocates help these stories travel further — reaching people who may become a volunteer, partner or supporter, or helping someone discover our service when they need it.
What we value most is seeing these different relationships connect.
A conversation becomes an introduction. An introduction sparks an idea. Someone shares their expertise, another opens a door, and something that would have been difficult for one organisation to achieve alone becomes possible.
As we look ahead, The Village Chef will continue to protect what matters — good food, good nutrition, reliable service and genuine human connection. But we will also keep looking for ways to work better, be more creative and productive, and expand what is possible for the communities we serve.
Behind every meal is a team. Around that team is a community.
