Kissing Point FC secures former Socceroo Steve O’Connor as Head Coach

STEVE O’Connor’s appointment has been described as an “exciting coup” for Kissing Point FC. He is a very big name in football, having been capped by the Socceroos 44 times, made 290 NSL appearances and with an impressively long coaching CV.

Steve has coached over 150 international games throughout Asia, South America and Europe. At the AIS, he coached the likes of Mark Viduka, Brett Emerton, Marco Bresciano and Vince Grella, to name a few.

Steve is already settling into the role.

“I was delighted to take up the role at Kissing Point FC. We’ve had some sessions already and the club has made me feel very welcome. The squad has an excellent work ethic and I’m looking forward to 2022.” remarked O’Connor.

Kissing Point’s Premier League skipper Luke Dawson is delighted with the appointment.

“It’s exciting times for the club and the men’s squad” Commented Dawson.

“When you look at what Steve has achieved over his footballing career it makes sense he has moved to a great club like Kissing Point FC.

“We have a squad that is willing to learn and push themselves, and with Steve in charge we have every opportunity for silverware in 2022.”

Vice-President Jeremy Tucker talked about what O’Connor’s signing means for the club, “With Steve as our Premier League coach, we have established an environment where our top players can develop to their full potential.At the same time, we have created an aspirational pathway for younger Kissing Point players.Our Prems are role models for our young players, they show them what’s possible and where they can go on their football journey. Steve’s appointment elevates our whole club.”
