Work to upgrade Waitara Station is powering ahead, with locals encouraged to have their say during November on the new concept design.
The upgrade aims to deliver safe, modern and accessible public transport infrastructure.
Alister Henskens SC MP said “We’ve listened to the local community and after design investigations, the station upgrade will include two new lifts, a new pedestrian underpass at the northern end of the platform as well as a new station entrance on Alexandria Parade,” Mr Henskens said.
“This major upgrade will make it easier for mums and dads with prams, seniors as well as people with disability to catch a train at Waitara…we’re also looking to improve safety with additional lighting and CCTV, more canopies and family accessible toilets.”
The community feedback included requests to preserve the character of the station, additional lighting and CCTV to increase customer safety, more canopies and shelters and suggestions to improve pedestrian access around the station.
