58KM Fundraiser for Life-Saving Research
In August, walk or run 58km for the 58 Australians who are diagnosed with breast cancer each day.
Step Up to Breast Cancer is an initiative hosted by National Breast Cancer Foundation annually. The hope is to raise funds for research to help cure the disease and completely eliminate breast cancer related deaths.
For the challenge, Australians are called to trek 58km throughout the month of August. Participants sign up, fundraise their endeavour, and then log their walking hours to both achieve their goal and let their community know about it.
Nearly 5,000 people had signed up before the beginning of August, and over $300,000 has already been raised.
The Card Network, Lifespan Fitness, and She Wear have contributed to the challenge by donating prize such as gift cards, a walking pad, and women’s walking shoes, respectively. The public can snag the prizes by participating in Step Up to Breast Cancer.
