Local Council Might Charge for Use of Public Parks

North Sydney Council considers usage charges for specified uses of public facilities

North Sydney Council is looking to charge a fee for use of public parks.

In a newly proposed “Commercial and Group Use of Public Open Space” policy, Council are concerned with upkeep of its public spaces and are looking for community feedback.

This policy would apply to any commercial or organised use of the space, including businesses charging services for fitness training, dog walking, educational institutions using parks for operational purposes, and private groups exceeding 21 participants.

Fees and charges would be handed down to these parkgoers as part of an approval process.

Feedback for North Sydney Councils draft policy closes on 6 October.
