A recent Federal Government decision to retain SBS in Artarmon while simultaneously expanding into Western Sydney was announced in early December.
In April of 2023, the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts led a feasibility study to determine a possible relocation of the SBS studios from Artarmon to Western Sydney.
Following the feasibility study, the Federal Government have decided not to pursue the move due to significant relocation costs.

SBS has long been a valued part of the area, contributing to our rich cultural and media landscape,’ said Tim James MP. ‘This decision ensures that Artarmon continues to be home to this iconic broadcaster and I welcome the positive impact it will have on local jobs and the broader community.’
