In a massive show of community support this June, the Lions Club of Berowra collected 11 trolley loads of non-perishable goods for the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter (HKWS).
The drive, stationed outside the Coles Supermarket at the Berowra Village Centre, brought in an estimated $3,000 worth of essential items. Donations from generous residents ranged from single necessities – such as toothpaste, kitchen cleaners, and toilet paper – to full bags of toiletries, assorted groceries, and even a Coles gift voucher.
The overwhelming response left both the Lions Club and shelter staff deeply impressed.
“This was one of the largest single goods donations that we have received,” said Sam, the Engagement Manager for HKWS.
The Lions Club of Berowra extends a massive thank you to everyone who made the drive a success. The collection was a true team effort, made possible by the collaboration of Berowra Centre Management, Coles store and service managers, the Berowra community, and local Lions members.
