Improvements are happening at the Hornsby-Berowra Men’s Shed.
The Shed, one of the more popular men’s sheds with over 70 members, announced the installation of a new dust extraction system, funded by a $20,000 Commonwealth Stronger Communities Grant.
With the popular activity of woodworking a staple amongst the members of the Shed, this new dust extraction system will allow for better ventilation, improving the health and safety of members.
‘This new dust extraction system has made an enormous difference to our “shed lives”,’ says Peter O’Connor, Secretary of the Hornsby-Berowra Men’s Shed. ‘We no longer need to maintain rather ancient individual extractors attached to every machine.’
Member for Berowra, Julian Leeser, attended the Shed after the installation of the dust extractors.
‘It was good to spent time with members of the Shed recently and to see the dust extraction system in action,’ says Julian Leeser MP. ‘I hope it will help them to continue achieving their Shed values of mateship, service, health, and community.’
The Hornsby-Berowra Men’s Shed is an arm of the Australian Men’s Shed Association, the national service provider supporting over 1,200 sheds across the country.
