Little Wings is a non-profit organisation helping seriously ill children in rural and regional NSW, ACT, and QLD for many years.

Their mission is to provide free, professional, and safe flight and ground transport services for children needing specialised medical treatment only available in major cities. They do everything they can to ensure that these children’s families don’t have to bear the financial burden, emotional stress, and travel fatigue associated with long-distance travel.

Recently, Little Wings gave students all over NSW and QLD the opportunity to name a new mascot for the organisation. The competition was incredibly popular, with hundreds of entries from many creative, thoughtful, and kind-hearted students.

Finally, the winning students from Willoughby Public School were announced. Sarah, Neil, and Aiden were the proud winners, and they were presented with their awards at the Little Wings 4th Plane Launch by Jason Clare MP, Minister for Education.

It’s inspiring to see how a small act of kindness can make a huge difference in the lives of others. Little Wings is an organisation that has been doing just that for years, and it’s heartwarming to see how the students from Willoughby Public School came together to help name its new mascot.

This competition reminded us that we can all do our part to help make the world better. It only takes a small act of kindness to make a difference in someone’s life, and we can all positively impact the world around us.

The new mascot’s name is ‘MINI WINGS’.

Clare Pearson, Little Wings CEO, said, “We were so humbled by the students’ response. It was a tough decision, and we are so thankful to all the schools that participated.

“Little Wings understands the importance of keeping families together during difficult times. Our mission is to support every family every step of the way because we are committed to the long haul.

“Little Wings ensures that the family unit remains strong throughout their medical journey and the seriously ill child has consistent access to the best possible care to see them thrive. Mini Wings has a big job to do: bring smiles and love to our precious cargo”.
