Another year, another Teddy Bear Picnic for the Sydney Adventist Hospital.
After kickstarting their annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic last year following cancellations with COVID-19, the San are putting smiles on San babies’ faces.
At the beginning on May, teddy bears were brought along to the Fox Valley Community Centre for a reunion picnic. Parents, grandparents, babies were able to reunite with San doctors and midwives who helped on their pregnancy and birthing journeys.
‘The San has been delivering babies for over 100 years,’ says Brett Goods, Adventist HealthCare Limited CEO. ‘In recent years, the hospital has delivered more than 2000 babies annually, and for many of our maternity staff this event is a highlight of their year.’
Kids entertainers, The Beanies, returned to perform live for the crowd of young families and San staff. Stalls giving away treats and gifts were set up to browse and enjoy, while face painting, games, and play equipment entertained guests for the morning.
‘It’s a really special occasion, and we’re always quite overwhelmed at how much people love the opportunity to come back,’ says Brett Goods.
