GORDON Library has been awarded over $312,000 in grant funding.
Afforded by the Public Libraries Infrastructure Grant, Ku-ring-gai Council will utilise the funding to upgrade services and facilities.
This is the second year Gordon Library has successfully received money from the infrastructure fund. Last year, Gordon Library was awarded $450,000, leading to a combined total of over $760,000 for both grants over the past two years.
The Public Libraries Infrastructure Grant is an annual funding initiative by the State Library to maintain and support capital works in local libraries across the state.
With the funding, Ku-ring-gai Council plan to extend Gordon Library’s foyer to facilitate after hours events, improve the local history section, and establish a quiet room to accommodate study.
Alongside these improvements, additional furniture will be purchased, and the internet access area will be relocated to include five PCs and three hot desking terminals, while wi-fi improvement will extend to the entire library.
‘The library has conducted customer research to guide the project,’ says Ku-ring-gai Mayor Sam Ngai. ‘We are placing the changing needs of the Ku-ring-gai community at the centre of the planned improvements.’
