From loyal companions to cheeky puppies, residents at BaptistCare The Gracewood in Kellyville came together on Wednesday, 26 August, to celebrate the unconditional love of furry family members for International Dog Day.
What began as a simple family day – where visiting four-legged friends sparked shared memories and fond stories – quickly evolved into the “K9 and Me” photo competition. Organised by Lifestyle Coordinator Chris Kim, the initiative invited residents, families, and staff to submit treasured photographs showcasing their unique bonds with their dogs.

Entries were scored on chemistry, expression, and photogenic appeal.
Panelist Carolie Shields from The Hills Shire Council noted how clear it was that the residents and their dogs meant the world to one another, highlighting the vital mental and social health benefits pets bring.
Thanks to the generous support of local businesses, every single participant walked away with a prize during the celebratory presentation. Visitors touring the home praised the vibrant, joyful atmosphere the event created.
