KU-RING-GAI’S Sculpture Trail winners have been awarded.
This year, over 30 pieces were created for the Sculpture Trail and installed at the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden. The Trail gives artists the ability to use recycled materials to make their artworks, in an effort to promote sustainability and raise community awareness about living an eco-friendly life.
Over $5,000 worth of cash prizes were awarded to the winning artists, funded by Ku-ring-gai’s environmental levy.
The Junior Category was awarded to Jingyan Chen, who won $500 and an excursion to the Wildflower Garden for the Year 4 class at Knox Grammar Preparatory School. The Youth Category was won by Adam Zreika who was given a $1,000 cash prize, with runner up Jade Dunne winning a $500 cash prize. The Open Category was awarded to Simon de Lorm, who was given $2,500, while Peter Masia placed runner up, and was given a $1,000 cash prize.
‘The Trail really heightens people’s awareness of the impact of waste on the environment,’ says Ku-ring-gai Mayor Jeff Pettett. ‘This year’s entries have been ingenious in their use of recycled waste.’
The Sculpture Trail is open to view until the 2nd of October at the Wildflower Garden.
