Following a successful debut in 2024, The Mind Café in Narrabeen are bringing back their “Orphan’s Christmas”.
The free, community-driven event is a way of allowing those without family, a strong support network, or a place to go on Christmas Day to still celebrate in the company of others.
The Mind Café are a self-described safe space, fostering a welcoming environment, positive mental health, and social inclusion. Tackling the loneliness epidemic, The Mind Café are bridging the gap where governmental and formal support systems are failing.
Last year, guests who attended were people experiencing homelessness, disability, mental health challenges, family estrangement, or social isolation.
This year’s program includes a full Christmas meal, desserts, drinks, music and entertainment, gifts, and a party atmosphere. All is free of charge.
‘Orphan’s Christmas is built on one powerful belief: no one deserves to be alone on Christmas Day,’ said The Mind Café in a release.
The Mind Café are calling for sponsors, donors, and volunteers to help meet the growing demand for community-based support during the holiday season.
