August 2026 - Another bumper edition

Local planning issues are taking center stage this August, with growing concern over developers shifting away from modest townhouse approvals toward larger multi-storey apartment blocks in Asquith and Hornsby. Because these sites fall outside official Transport Oriented Development (TOD) boundaries, these proposals push density limits beyond what surrounding neighborhoods were designed to handle and risk setting a precedent for established residential streets. Alongside these planning concerns, this edition highlights Homelessness Week (3–9 August) by spotlighting Samantha Bing, who is sleeping on Sydney’s streets for seven consecutive nights to raise funds for St Vincent de Paul.

The remainder of the month features several major community events and local milestones across the region. Readers are encouraged to support Allie as she prepares for the Galston500 run for MS research, attend Community Bank Lindfield’s Annual Community Pitch on 26 August, and look forward to the Lifeline Gala Ball on 29 August. Rounding out the issue is a celebration of a long-standing local institution, Turramurra Music, as it marks 50 years of family-run service to the local music community.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy this edition!

How Female Business Leaders Overcome Executive Isolation

The Post is the trusted, independent voice for the North Shore and Northern Beaches communities. We are dedicated to delivering in-depth hyperlocal news across Sydney’s Upper North Shore. Whether it is holding local councils accountable, exploring real estate and business trends, or celebrating local arts, sports, and school milestones, we cover the full spectrum of local life.

Founded during the COVID-19 pandemic—a time when over 200 newsrooms shuttered across the country - Tina Brown established the publication (originally known as the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Post) to provide one reliable source of truth. We ensure our community never has to scour multiple Facebook groups just to find out what is happening in their own backyard.

Privacy & Compliance: At The Post, we value your privacy. We only collect personal information, such as your email or contact details, to provide you with our hyperlocal news and advertising services. We do not sell your data to third parties.
