Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury has operated for more than 30 years, training and equipping thousands of individuals with the skills to service and simply be a port of emotional call for community members who reach out.
Elizabeth Lovell, Lifelines Harbour to Hawkesbury CEO, has continued pushing this trend as she ticks over 12 months since joining the organisation.
A proud mother of three young adults, she grew up in the North Shore, schooling locally at Lindfield, then North Sydney Girls. Elizabeth even recalls strapping on the skates and enjoying roller skating in the car park at what is now Lindfield Learning Village.
Elizabeth commented on what pushed her to swap out a long career in the corporate world for Lifeline—attracted to the organisation’s growing presence nationally.
“I associate Lifeline’s ability to improve the health and well-being of the local community, as well as actively participate in local and national conversations about mental health and suicide prevention…”
“I believe that every person has something special to bring to the table, and I take great joy in seeing others succeed as well as satisfaction in my contribution to have hopefully made a difference to others.”
Linking her move to Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury to the influence of those who guided her as she grew up. Making mention of her late Grandfather and father.
“One of the most important values displayed by both men and women was that privilege does not earn you power or influence. Instead, this gift gives us an unbreakable obligation to serve others and society with respect and kindness”.
Elizabeth also references her mother, who passed away at 48, known for having unquenchable guts and drive.
“She coached me that the best committees are small ones and that women can and should lead and have a strong voice to make a difference in society.”
Now Living in Church Point, Liz’s life is still busier than ever, acknowledging just how driven she and her team are in 2023.
“When encountering suffering, sadness or grief, this just makes me, along with our team, even more determined to do more. Every day is filled with hope and an urgency to help more people.”
Still recovering from a global pandemic, 2023’s new challenge is all about the cost of living, bringing Lifeline a new group of Aussies struggling to stay afloat.
“The people we’re seeing and hearing from have possibly never sought help before because they’ve never been in this situation. Plus, now people are not paying for essential things like keeping a roof over their heads or paying their electricity bills.” – Elizabeth Lovell.
Elizabeth’s Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury will be hosting the 2023 Lifeline Sapphire Gala Ball, held in Martin Place, Sydney, on the 9th of September. With Television personality Jessica Rowe as MC and Mahalia Barnes as entertainment.
A fantastic event that is shaping up to be an exciting night for the community to get involved with. Showcasing auction prizes and media personalities and political guests. A night full of people passionate about building hope and resilience in the community.
