ENTRIES are now open for the Ku-ring-gai Council Local Citizen of the Year Awards, celebrating local residents and groups who have made a real difference in the community over the past year.

Every year, Council honours the volunteers, quiet achievers and local leaders whose generosity and commitment help strengthen the Ku-ring-gai community.

In Short

  • Nominations Open: Ku-ring-gai Council is inviting nominations to recognise residents and groups making an outstanding local impact.
  • Four Award Categories: Recognising Citizen of the Year (25+), Young Citizen (16–25), Environmental Citizen, and the Mayor's Award.
  • Celebrating Quiet Achievers: The program highlights volunteer dedication across local RFS brigades, bushland regeneration, wildlife care, and aged support.
  • Strict Deadline: Submissions must be lodged via Ku-ring-gai Council’s official portal by Sunday, 13 December 2026.

Ku-ring-gai Mayor Kim Wheatley said the awards were a chance to say thank you to those who give so much to the community.

“It never ceases to amaze me how many people in our community quietly help others without wanting anything in return,” Mayor Wheatley said.

“Whether they’re volunteering with the RFS, rescuing wildlife, supporting older residents or caring for our bushland, these locals make Ku-ring-gai a better place to live.
