It was a privilege to attend the premiere of Life Could Be a Dream on 22 April, a film that beautifully captures the resilience and spirit of a woman called Sarah, a forty-year-old woman standing at the threshold of a life she has never fully lived.
As she and her teenage son navigate their way toward freedom, they confront both external threats and the mythology Sarah has long held about rescue and relationships.
Finding temporary sanctuary in a luxurious mansion she has been tasked with selling, Sarah begins to imagine a future defined by choice rather than fear. At its heart, the film explores the fierce and fragile bond between mother and son as they attempt to break cycles and redefine love on their own terms.
Seeing such a poignant story unfold on the big screen was a reminder of why I am so passionate about my work in advocacy and media – storytelling has a unique power to bridge divides and foster deep connections.
It’s a visually poetic Australian production and is a debut feature from award-winning Australian filmmaker Jasmin Tarasin.
The evening was a wonderful opportunity to catch up with local creatives and fellow supporters of the arts, all while celebrating a project that truly champions the values of empathy and courage we hold dear on the North Shore.
