FORMER Northern Beaches Council Mayor, Michael Regan, has been recognised with the NSW Local Government Association Emeritus Mayor Award. The award recognises the service of local councillors during their tenure as mayor.
Cr Regan served on both the Warringah and Northern Beaches Council for over a decade, popularly elected as Mayor of Warringah in 2008. Following the amalgamation of the Manly, Pittwater, and Warringah Councils, Cr Regan became the first Mayor of the new Northern Beaches Council in 2017.
Following his appointed as the Member for Wakehurst during the 2023 NSW State Election, Cr Regan stepped away from the mayoral position.

Cr Michael Regan advocated for the new Forest High School, collaborated with State and Federal Governments to fund and upgrade the Narrabeen Lagoon walkway, recognised the need to fund the PCYC at Dee Why, championed upgrades for the Wakehurst Parkway, and backed the B1 line to the city. He delivered on climate action, overseeing the 100% switch to renewable energy for all buildings and sites across on the Northern Beaches, effectively cutting the Council’s carbon footprint by 80% during his tenure as mayor.
