New deputy mayors have been elected at local councils.
Northern Beaches Councillor Candy Bingham has taken up the mantle. A councillor for the Manly Ward since 2017, and a councillor at the Manly Council since 2012, Cr Bingham is a seasoned member of local government. Cr Bingham will serve as Deputy Mayor until September 2026.
Hornsby Shire Council have elected Councillor Sallianne McClelland as the deputy mayor. Only one written nomination for the position of Deputy Mayor was presented to General Manager Steven Head. With no others, Cr McClelland was elected for the period to September 2026.
North Sydney Council elected independent Cr MaryAnn Beregi for the position of Deputy Mayor. Cr Beregi, who represents the Cammeraygal ward, was first elected to Council in 2012. Her term as Deputy Mayor will be from October 2025 to September 2026.
For Ku-ring-gai Council, Councillor Martin Smith has been elected as Deputy Mayor. Representing St Ives Ward, Cr Smith was first elected to Council in 2017, and his position as Deputy Mayor will be until September 2026.
