WILLOUGHBY Local Woman of the Year 2024 was awarded to Solveig Coulon. Member for Willoughby Tim James has congratulated Solveig for her positive impact on the Willoughby community, and her tenacious entrepreneurial spirit.

‘Solveig serves as an inspiration for women aspiring to realise their potential,’ says Member Tim James. ‘Her continuous efforts towards the advancement of our community have helped shape our society into an even better place.’

Solveig Coulon immigrated from France a decade ago and has since established herself as a prominent local. Founder of the local market Le Marche Willoughby, Solveig has expanded the diversity of Willoughby through sharing French culture across the community.

The Local Woman of the Year Awards is an annual program that recognises the contributions of local woman in their respective electorates. Members of Parliament choose the recipients for each electorate.

‘The Local Woman of the Year Award is a wonderful way to recognise the many achievements of local women,’ says NSW Shadow Minister for Women, Leslie Williams.

Other Local Woman of the Year Award winners included Nat Tobin from Hornsby, Alizee Vanderveken from Davidson, Mala Mehta from Wahroonga, Sonja Walker from Wakehurst, Laura Enever from Pittwater, and Laura Stone from the North Shore.

‘It is vital we recognise and support those who continue to challenge inequality, innovate, and promote progress in their fields,’ says NSW Minister for Women, Jodie Harrison. ‘I look forward to following their journeys as they continue to inspire others.’
