Publisher’s Post Edition 57 – July 2024

In this July edition we have included our quarterly Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community College Course guide which is always very popular and worth a look.

I’m feeling optimistic about Hornsby’s future with the recent news that our Local Member, Matt Kean, has decided to step down from politics. Frankly, it’s about time. I always believe that if your heart isn’t in something, you need to move on. Recognising this can be challenging if you’re not self-aware.

I am urging all candidates for the seat of Hornsby, to reach out to The Post and let us know about your campaign. Of course, I also urge women to come forward as I believe we do have many incredible women in our community.

This news followed closely on the heels of the redistribution proposal announcement, which indicated that Kylea Tink’s North Sydney seat might be abolished. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide a fresh local perspective in upcoming editions.

From my experience, Kylea has tirelessly engaged with her constituents, identified their key concerns, and represented them at every opportunity. Losing her would be a significant blow.

It’s disappointing that the State Government has withdrawn funding for the development of the sporting complex at Westleigh Park, which undoubtedly would have been an incredible asset to the entire of the North Shore.

Please enjoy this edition of The Post and stay safe.

With Gratitude

When my mother passed away unexpectedly in late May I had the task of arranging a funeral for the first time.

It was her wish to have her service conducted by White Lady Funerals. When I met with the Funeral Director at White Lady, I emphasised that we wanted not only a warm and caring celebrant, but also someone very well spoken. We are very grateful that this request was met and my expectations were exceeded.

I believe the funeral is the last goodbye and it’s a very emotional and stressful day. Honouring the memory of my mother was the final mark of respect that our family felt we could extend to her.

The warmth, compassion and empathy with which Susan shared our memories in the eulogy is something we will never forget.   Her eloquence, empathy and deep sincerity were very comforting during an incredibly difficult time.

I am eternally grateful to have found Susan Gavran for that very sad day. Thank you.
