Step Up for MND: Bondi to Coogee Walk

Join Andre Dronoff for a walk from Bondi to Coogee and help raise funds for Motor Neuron Disease (MND) on Saturday 28 December 2024.

MND profoundly affects not only those diagnosed but also their families and caregivers, making support services and research funding vital. Although MND was first described around 150 years ago, it remains a terminal diagnosis today with no
effective treatment or cure available.

The exact cause of MND is unknown, but it may involve genetic and environmental factors. Symptoms include muscle weakness, difficulty speaking, swallowing, and breathing.

Starting at 10am on Saturday 28 December, Andre is calling for the community to come together in a show of solidarity for those suffering with MND. “It’s a chance to embrace the beauty of our coastline while coming together to raise funds and awareness for MND… it’s a devastating disease that affects so many and by walking together we can make a difference” says Dronoff.

Dronoff’s walk is proudly supported by FightMND  and organised the charity walk after his close friend’s father was diagnosed with MND. “I was devasted to learn of the diagnosis and felt helpless. I decided to help raise funds for research a cure for MND with FIGHTMND,” he says.

I will also be holding a DIY Big Freeze event  and other charity events later in the year to support FightMND.

Funds raised will go direct to FightMND.

Founded in 2014, FightMND was established with the purpose of finding effective treatments and ultimately a cure for motor neurone disease.

FightMND hosts events and campaigns to raise awareness and funds.

“Together, we can bring hope to those battling this disease. Let’s make this walk one of purpose and heart” – Andre Dronoff.

Date: 28 December 2024
Time: 10.00 AM
Starting point: Bondi Icebergs Club (outside)
