Advocacy from Member for Davidson, Matt Cross, has led to a confirmed four-wheel drive (4WD) ambulance to service the Ku-ring-gai and Northern Beaches local government areas.
Following the deaths of two locals on the bush trails within Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Mr Cross MP raised the issue at a parliamentary hearing in early August.
‘On 13 June 2023 the Minister for Health announced the rollout of 80 four-wheel drive ambulances across New South Wales, with the announcement made in North Wahroonga. I welcome this commitment,’ said Mr Cross MP. ‘I urge the Minister to allocate one of these life-saving vehicles to the Northern Sydney NSW Ambulance Zone. Equipping our local paramedics with the tools to reach people in hard-to-access areas will save lives.’
Matt Cross MP took to social media to announce the confirmation of the new 4WD vehicle a few days later.
‘This life-saving vehicle will give our local paramedics the capability to reach people in hard-to-access bushland and trails,’ said Mr Cross via a social media post.
