In a few short years, Northern Galaxy, the volunteer-run female football program of Berowra Football Club and Mt Colah Football Club, has skyrocketed to success.
Starting in 2021 with 200 female players, Galaxy now boasts over 330 players across 28 teams and offers playing opportunities from Girls Under 6s (G6) all the way toWomen’s Over 35s.
In 2024, Galaxy had a standout season with the Women’s All Age Division 2 team winning both the league and grand final, resulting in a promotion to the Women’s Premier League for 2025. The team achieved an extraordinary milestone for the club—the team scored their first goals and recorded their first points in the division.
In true Galaxy fashion, the team had many other teams supporting them. Both G20s teams, the WAA4, and G30A pitched in to cheer the victory home.
At its core, Northern Galaxy is focused on key pillars: player development, retention, and fostering a fun, social environment. Galaxy’s ethos centres around nurturing talent, keeping players engaged, and building a strong sense of community.
For the teams to continue kicking goals and taking home their crowns, the spirit of local community needs to shine through. That’s exactly what Northern Galaxy nurture.
The Galaxy pathway provides a clear and accessible route for aspiring junior players to play at the highest levels of community football. Over the last two seasons, nine players have come through from junior teams to make their WAA debuts, with five playing their first minutes in WPL for 2025.
Northern Galaxy continues to expand and strengthen, standing as an example of what young women and girls can achieve through community support and a love for the game.
