Giant Book Fair At Barker College

The Giant Lifeline Book Fair at Barker college is on again.

Another Giant Book Fair is returning to Hornsby, just in time for Christmas.

Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney are holding their much-loved Book Fair at Barker College in Hornsby from Saturday the 7th to Monday the 9th of December. This will be the final Book Fair of 2024.

Over 90,000 books will be on sale to browse, from more than 50 fiction and non-fiction genres and categories. This includes, but is not limited to, Romance, Memoir & Biography, Literature, Art, Military, History & Politics, Science & Technology, SciFi & Fantasy, Travels & Adventures, Cookery, Gardening, Craft, Study Guides and Textbooks.

Up for grabs are 55 Special Books, featuring rare and collectible titles. Some include Henry Lawson Memories (T.S. Browning, 1931); Captain Cook’s 3RD Voyage, An Authentic Narrative of a Voyage Vol II (W. Ellis, G Robinson, Pater Noster Row, 1784. 3rd Edition); Cosmos (G Sparrow, A Sobel, 2013; and Letters Written By the Late Right Honourable Philip Dormer Stanhope, Earl of Chesterfield, To His Son, Philip Stanhope ESQ. (P Dormer Stanhope, E Stanhope, 1774).

All books available are on a first-come, first-served basis.

‘By recycling unwanted books, the Book Fair saves them from ending up as landfill as well as providing new owners with a wealth of fiction and non-fiction to keep them busy for months to come,’ says veteran volunteer, Ian Stuart. ‘A small army of helpers work the whole year round to gather, sort, clean, categorise and price the donations. Thousands of volunteer hours go into making the Book Fair work. It’s enormously satisfying.’

In addition to books, there will be a variety of comics, CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, stamps, video games, audio books, stationery, sheet music, board games, and jigsaw puzzles for purchase.

All proceeds made from the Giant Book Fair will be funnelled to Lifeline H2HS for the charity to continue their support services. Lifeline H2HS offer 24/7 phone, text, and chat services, counselling and psychological services, support groups and treatment programs, and emergency relief, among other resources for suicide prevention.
