Local footy club volunteer has been recognised in Bunnings’ “Legend of the Tongs” initiative.

Lauren Urasaki from the Hornsby Berowra Eagles Junior AFL Club has been volunteering for the last five years at the club’s BBQs. Since her eldest son started playing at the Eagles, Lauren has passionately dedicated her time to serve sausages to the community.

“Legend of the Tongs” is a Bunnings’ nationwide search to reward locals who volunteer at BBQs for their footy clubs. This is the 11th year of Bunnings and the AFL partnering to honour volunteers.

Lauren has scored the Hornsby Berowra Eagles Junior AFL Club a BBQ prize pack with a Jumbuck 6 Burner BBQ and a Bunnings marquee. She is in the running to win a trip for two to the AFL Grand Final, as well as being named “Legend of the Golden Tongs” and win $25,000 in Bunnings products.

‘We feel privileged to be able to gift the Hornsby Berowra Eagles Junior AFL Club with improved equipment to support their volunteers where it matters,’ says Jason Hegner, Bunnings Thornleigh Complex Manager.
