Pymble Players present theatre-rendition of a 2023 Australian comedy film about a woman’s return to her hometown and her fight for gender equality.
Inspired by true events, Melanie Tait’s ‘The Appleton Ladies’ Potato Race’ follows Penny who moves from Sydney to her hometown Appleton, where she finds the town’s world-famous potato race has a glaring problem: the men’s top prize is $2,000, while the women’s is only $200. When Penny takes a stand, what unfolds is a hearty, humorous culture war.
