In May, I had the honour of attending a special book launch for a local author, Angharad Candlin, who I met just this year when she volunteered for my election campaign.

The book is called “The Anatomy of Domestic Violence: Emily’s Story”.

I’m excited to say that our Editor, Claudia Butjerevic, is currently reviewing this book as our first book review in The Post and will be speaking with Angharad for an article.

This launch formed part of a larger afternoon hosted by LEAD Professional Development Association. During the event, LEAD premiered its new video resource from the Coercive Control: The Hidden Driver of Non-Physical Violence project. The video was funded by LEAD Connect, a public benevolent institution (PBI) charity.

I’d like to congratulate my friend Angharad on publishing her book and I’m next in line to read it!

“The Anatomy of Domestic Violence: Emily’s Story” tells the tale of one woman’s resilience living through the traumatic realities of domestic violence. It captures the failures of the systems in place that were created, and are meant to, protect women and their children. With decades of experience as a community psychologist, Angharad brings Emily’s story to the world using the Safe and Together model of domestic violence response. As a result, the book is both a narrative about domestic violence and an educational tool.
