Alister Henskens Allegedly Gunning for Bradfield Seat

Liberal 's gunning for preselection in Bradfield

Jockeying for Liberal Party preselection for Bradfield

Sources have revealed to The Post that Member for Wahroonga, Alister Henskens, is allegedly gunning for the federal seat of Bradfield following Paul Fletcher’s recent resignation.

Alister Henskens MP is rumoured to have been expressing interest in the Bradfield Liberal preselection, making calls to wedge himself into the running.

He currently represents the state seat of Wahroonga, though it appears working for the Wahroonga community is too small a role for Henskens MP. The federal seat is where his eyes may be focused.

The Post believes that there are two likely Liberal candidates for the seat of Bradfield.

Penny George Farlow, wife to Member of the Legislative Council and former mayor of Strathfield, Scott Farlow. Currently, Penny George Farlow is the Director of Corporate Affairs at AstraZeneca and former Head of Government Affairs at pharmaceutical company Sanofi Australia.

The other possible candidate is Gisele Kapterian, the former preselected Liberal candidate for the now abolished federal seat of North Sydney.

In 2023, North Sydney was won by independent Kylea Tink, but given the recent redistributions that will see North Sydney abolished for the 2025 election, the Liberals may be shifting Kapterian to Bradfield.

The Liberals have tough opposition for Bradfield, given the continuous community presence of independent Nicolette Boele, who lost to Fletcher in 2022 by the skin of her teeth. Boele reduced the very safe Liberal margin by over 12 points. Post-election, the Liberal margin is sitting at 4.2%.

The Post requested comment from Alister Henskens MP. Comment was not provided.
