Bradfield Deserves Better

Hello, I’m Nicolette Boele and I’m running as a community independent candidate for the seat of Bradfield in the upcoming federal election.

If we haven’t already met, I’m a local mum and I raised my two kids here in Bradfield. I’ve built my career driving change across finance and clean energy, working with industry and government. Over the last year I’ve spoken to thousands of people across Bradfield to understand their biggest concerns about the future. One thing stands above all else: the rising cost of living. Every day I hear how people in our community are worried about increasing costs. It’s particularly upsetting to hear from so many people, young and old, who are worried about losing their home, or not being able to find affordable and decent housing where and when they need it. This is a problem across Australia that affects all of us.

Our government can address the issues that increase our everyday expenses, but too often party politics and personal attacks block serious policy debate and reform. That’s why having truly independent community representatives sitting in Parliament is so important. By taking a long-term approach, listening to communities, and relying on evidence and experts, we can solve many of these problems. In the most recent parliament, community independents drove serious changes including:

  • HECs debt relief to support those with higher education loans, which reduced student debt by $3 billion
  • Ambitious policies to increase rental housing stock and support for shared equity schemes
  • And significant commitments on climate that will modernise our economy and drive investment.

If you see me or one of my volunteer supporters out and about, please come and say hello, I’d love to get to know you!
