Record turnout and major fundraising boost at Mary’s House Walk 2025

The annual Mary’s House Walk boasted its largest crowd yet with 1,350 people turning out to support women and children escaping domestic and family violence.

On Sunday 26 October, students, families, community groups, sporting teams, corporate partners and government representatives marched together from St Leonard’s Park to McMahons Point.

In the lead up to the event, an anonymous donor pledged to match every dollar raised by registered walkers. Later, the donor increased their contribution to $40,000, making the final fundraising total a record-breaking $218,000. Donors who sponsored friends, colleagues and family members also played a key role in the fundraising success.

Helen Conway, Chair of Mary’s House, opened the walk thanking major partners Ord Minnett and Holding Redlich, and acknowledged the long-standing support of The Mater Hospital. Rotary Clubs of the Bradfield Community region were praised for serving complimentary food and beverages, donated by Rydges Hotel North Sydney.

The NSW Police Band provided entertainment, St John Ambulance was on standby to provide medical support, HMAS Waterhen, the North Sydney Bears, the SES and pro bono professionals contributed by providing media, marketing, printing, and logistics support for the event.

‘To every donor who supported a friend, family member, colleague, or team, again your generosity helps ensure that every woman and child in our care feels seen, supported, and recognised by their community. Together, you said no to domestic and family violence and yes to safety and hope,’ said a Mary’s House representative in a release.
