KU-RING-GAI is celebrating its older residents for the month of March.

Council has lined up excursions, events, and information sessions to engage the older community.

On Wednesday the 6th, seniors will travel to Gosford for a guided tour of the Japanese Gardens. Afterwards, lunch for the seniors will be held at the Gosford Sailing Club.

Thursday the 7th is for those seniors that want to get involved in volunteering. The Volunteer Expo will allow residents to find information on volunteer roles and meet volunteer coordinators across the Upper North Shore.

March 11th at Gordan Library will teach seniors tips and tricks on gardening, growing herbs to make cooking more flavourful, and allow residents to take home a pot of flowers or herbs.

Everything for Seniors Day has residents exploring Ku-ring-gai and all it has to offer. On the 13th, seniors are encouraged to find their favourite clubs, community organisations, local exercise classes, and discover local support-at-home service providers.

On Thursday the 14th, seniors will tour the Belgenny Farm in Camden, which contains the earliest collection of colonial farm buildings in Australia. Belgenny Farm was established by Elizabeth and John Macarthur in 1805.

Every first and third Monday of the month, Seniors Chess Club goes ahead at the Turramurra Service Centre. This is scheduled to continue Monday the 18th of March, where a tutor will be present to help both those will with no knowledge and those who fancy themselves experts.

On Tuesday the 19th, seniors have the opportunity to tour the La Perouse Museum, which is filled with items that document the expedition of French explorer Comte de Laperouse.

A lunchtime cruise of Sydney’s Harbour is set on Thursday the 21 of March. Included is a two-course meal while seniors are treated to the view of the harbour.

Finally, on March 26th at the Roseville Cinema, silent film “The Sentimental Bloke” is on for seniors viewing pleasure, while they chat and mingle.
