NORTHERN Beaches Council are taking steps to be more inclusive. Council have put forth a draft plan titled “Championing Diversity – Multicultural Inclusion”.

The five-year plan has key outcomes aligned with community aspirations, cultural expression, and equitable access to programs and services. The draft plan is Council’s commitment to the Northern Beaches becoming inclusive, safe, diverse, and connected.

‘We’re proud to introduce a plan that encapsulates the aspirations of our diverse community, ensuring that every individual feels welcomed and valued,’ says Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins. ‘One of the most exciting aspects of this draft plan is its strong emphasis on broad community involvement; so far, over 500 community members have contributed to its development.’

Northern Beaches Council have a footprint where residents are from 123 different ancestries, almost 1 in 3 people were born overseas, and 1 in 2 have a parent born abroad.

‘This plan isn’t just about ticking a box; it’s about people. It’s about ensuring that every voice is heard, every culture celebrated, and every individual feels empowered to actively participate in shaping the future of our community,’ says Mayor Heins.

Community feedback on the draft plan closes on the 29th of February.
