Fifteen Ku-ring-gai High School students have celebrated their graduation from the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) Secondary Schools Cadet Program, marking the end of an intensive nine-week course that built both firefighting and life skills.
The Year 9 students were presented with certificates at a special ceremony at the school, with RFS Superintendent Gary Hansen congratulating them on their achievements.
“These cadets have learned more than essential firefighting techniques, they’ve developed teamwork, leadership and confidence, which will serve them well beyond the program,” Superintendent Hansen said.
During the event, the students demonstrated their training in fire safety, emergency response and fire behaviour, reflecting the practical knowledge they gained from more than 20 RFS trainers, including local volunteers and staff.
Over the past two decades, thousands of students across NSW have graduated from the RFS Secondary Schools Cadet Program, with many going on to become active members of the Service.
