The Galston500 is back again to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis.
Once a year, volunteer-run organisation Hornsby Model Engineers Co-operative pull together the Galston500 and donate the proceeds to the Westmead Institute for Medical Research in search of a MS cure.
MS is a chronic autoimmune disease which has the immune system attacking the body’s myelin sheath, a protective, insulating layer over nerve fibers. The result is inflammation and central nervous system damage.
At the Galston Valley Railway site on Saturday 30 August from 7am to 3pm, the community is encouraged to come and take part.
The Galston500 is an endurance event of teams operating 5-inch gauge miniature trains. Teams are aiming for a total of 500 laps of the 1km track at the Galston Vallet Railway.
For this year’s event, the fancy dress theme is “Back to the Future”, and visitors are asked to dress up as a character from the iconic trilogy.
Between 10am and 3pm, the day with have live music, craft and food stalls, merchandise to purchase, an RFS Fire Truck, and rides on the miniature trains.
