I don’t know about you, but I’m counting down the days until the cold weather leaves us. When August rolls around each year, I feel I see the light of spring at the end of the wintry tunnel.
A bit of August trivia: the month was originally known as ‘Sextilis’, but renamed after the first Roman Emperor, Augustus Caesar. What a relief, because August (and September) has the highest number of births. On that note, Happy Birthday to all the August babies. Count your lucky stars you don’t have to tell the world you’re born in ‘Sextilis’.
Moving on from trivia, our August edition is packed with health articles, upcoming not-for-profit events, community initiatives, and some local news stories.
We explore the ongoing struggles at Norman Griffiths Oval, a concerned resident updates you on the rezoning issues in Johnson Road, Galston, and we have a look at the unprotected land at Byles Creek Valley and the $2.5 million promised by the former state treasurer for its acquisition.
Not to mention, we are hosting a Father’s Day giveaway, which you’ll find early in the publication. We have some great gifts up for grabs, so be sure to enter to have them arrive before Father’s Day. Entries close 18 August. Thank you to Penguin Random House Australia, Chocolate in a Bottle, Ugg Express, American Crew, and Reolink for the giveaway items.
Until the next edition,
Claudia
