Good Sports Awards has celebrated Dougal Graham from Blowfly Cricket Association in Hornsby.
The Alcohol and Drug Foundation’s annual Good Sports Awards recognise those that have been working to break the link between substance use and sport, and those who strive to tackle difficult topics like drugs, smoking, mental health, and safe transport.
Dougal was named the NSW Volunteer of the Year and praised for his fundraising dedication and ability to create a welcoming environment for all players.
‘Dougal is an inspiration to us all. At 90 years old, he continues to give his time and energy to ensure BlowFly Cricket thrives,’ said BlowFly Cricket Founder Mark Rushton.
Since 2021, Dougal has bagged over 85,000 recyclable items, raised over $8,500 for the Blowfly Coaching Academy, and has strengthened community ties.
‘He is a true champion of grassroots sport, and we are incredibly grateful for everything he does. This recognition is a fitting tribute to a man who has given so much to BlowFly Cricket and beyond,’ says Mark Rushton.
Good Sports is Australia’s largest community health sports program, supporting more than 12,000 Australian clubs for over 25 years.
